2022 NORRA 500

Post by 666manx »

New member. Just purchased ‘66 Manx with intention of competing in 2022 NORRA 500 to begin off road racing experience. Looking for information/ guidance regarding virtually everything:
CA off road buggy experts in maintenance, service, repair and compliance with rules;
Transportation to/ from Mexico and service/ support at event;
Etc…

Thanks!

There's a lot of information to go over but I'm sure we can help you out. It might actually be easier if we break it down into segments.
Out of curiosity where are you located?

Let's start with the build. Bruce always said "you don't beat Baja, you survive it!" and he was correct. 1st order of business is to build to survive! There are so many things that can fail, situations that can cause damage. The 500 is a great event, shorter than the 1000, but still a challenge for the vehicles. The attention to detail while understanding the environment you will be running is key to completing every race mile. The operators of the vehicle must also be fully aware of the limitations of their vehicle. Pioneer class(swing axle transmission) or a Legend class(IRS Transmission) are both classes with limitations compared to an Evolution class vehicle. It is real easy to push it too hard and overdrive a Pioneer or Legend class entry beyond the breaking point. Then you spend most of the time between stages making repairs. Start by building a solid platform!!
