Thomas Crown Buggy

Post by FulsGld »

Hey All;

While reading the latest Manx Mania, there was a little tidbit in the Winnie's Whims section that Bruce is building a mock-up of the Thomas Crown Affair buggy for "The Friends of Steve McQueen Car and Motorcycle Show". Does anyone here have any more information on this mock-up build?

Bruce was working on it when I was down there just before Christmas. He's using a period correct body he had laying around and making repairs to it. No current status.

Here is a couple of pictures of body after it was painted. Just so you know, Bruce will NOT be making the hood to sell.
I ask Bruce and was told this is a one off just for the show in June. The headlight placement in no way would or the windscreen ever be legal in California.
Who knows maybe if you threw $250,000 at him it might rethink.
He is 88 years old now, let him have some time doing fun things.

IMOP the Kick Out SS looks way more beautiful.

We'll try to get some pics up after the show. I'd call this one a "Tribute" car not a "Replica". There are some subtle differences that couldn't be helped, that some might criticize, but it is a tribute to the Thomas Crown Affair buggy.

A few shots of the TC Tribute Manx built by Meyers Manx Inc for "The Friends of Steve McQueen" car show held 6/7/14 in Chino Hills CA. Thanks to all that worked so diligently on this car to get it to the show.
