Day Trip!

Post by Don Giovanoni »

Last Saturday we decided to take a spur of the moment buggy day trip to our state capital - Jefferson City, MO. The day started out cool and ended up about 80 degrees, just perfect. We set the GPS to avoid interstates and took the back roads. The Manx just purred the whole way. We went through numerous small towns and really enjoyed the sights. Everyone seems to love a buggy. While stopped for lunch we had people coming up and telling us they love our buggy; a mom and 10 year old stopped their car and asked us if they could take pictures of the car. At stoplights we would hear "Nice car" or "looks like fun". Even passing motorcycles would give us the thumbs up. In Jeff City we stumbled on two car shows. We stopped at one and checked out the hot rods and muscle cars. No buggies but there was a VW panel truck. Turned out to be about 225 miles total. The buggy certainly is inexpensive to drive. On the way back we used less than a quarter tank of gas for 110 miles. (Electronic odometer set with GPS, so pretty accurate). Wow. Oh well, another Manx memory!
