Undercoating with a roller

Post by shaihulud »

The body of my SR is ready for undercoating. I have no experience with spray painting, nor access to the equipment, so I will put it on with a roller, but I need some help. Should I thin the polyester spray filler? If so, how much? Do I let the coats flash dry only before applying the next coat? How many coats are recommended? Do I need to hand rub the final coat of polyester before applying the high build primer, or let it flash dry and keep on going? At what point would I need to let it all dry, set and then rub it down before continuing? Given that I am going to assemble the car in undercoat, because I know that I will scratch it, should I hand rub the final coat before assembly or do that when the top coats of metal flake go on? Thanks in anticipation. Richard.
