Hey Jon,

Just follow me, from what I remember that trail isn't so bad.

I would agree w/ Jon, the KISS principle works great. I have owned and built both swing and irs cars and have enjoyed both. In stock form the swing axles have lower gearing, but the irs cars can have more ground clearance. But ask Jon about the need for ground clearance lol.

Russ,  Keep it Simple, get it running quick and involve the kids in the process.  I've got 2 boys, 13 and 19, and some of the best memories we have are in the buggy.  My car is an original manx that has a balljoint front and swingaxle rear, and I've run with most everyone posting above and my car goes everywhere.  These are projects that are never finished so don't think you will make a plan and stick to it.  Drive it, learn about it, teach your kids about it and enjoy it.  It really keeps a family close.
