Re: Brake/Clutch Pedal/cylinder assemblies
You could mount the clutch master cylinder inside of the the tunnel and modify the clutch pedal cross shaft end to operate it. SACO/German Auto sells a bolt in kit to do it. On the raffle Kick Out SS I install a Wilwood master cylinder inside the tunnel with a remote reservoir. You need to make a ac...

Re: Stressed out and stumped over new wiring
Yes grounding through the screw on the back of speedo works well. Looking at your diagram does it show a ground wire to the turn signal flasher? Do you go on the The Samba.com? There is a section for fiberglass buggies/kit cars in the forums. There are a few people that really know wiring on there t...

Re: Do I need Heat risers in Southern California?
Over on Shop Talk Forums.com in the type 1 forum, titled My Weber Experiment. There is a person that is going to find out if using motorcycle handlebar grips heater pads will work on keeping the manifold from icing up. He has posted picture of what he is doing. It looks very interesting on what he g...

Re: Stressed out and stumped over new wiring
Speedometer has to be grounded for all idiot lights(gen/oil/turn) to work. On the idiot lights in speedo the wires on the bulbs go to ground through what they are connect to. Such as oil pressure switch and voltage regulator. The single terminal on idiot lights get power when key is turn to run posi...

Re: Do I need Heat risers in Southern California?
Going back to your original post in another person thread, It appears you biggest problem you had then was a hesitation with the 34PICT carb and 009 style distributor. Is this correct? I used all kinds of Solex carburators over the last 40plus years. From 28PCI to PII-40 dual throats. I have used, a...

Re: Do I need Heat risers in Southern California?
From what I getting from your other posts that you using the buggy at Big Bear, which is high altitude and yes you may need heat to the carb to keep it from icing up. Any idea of what jetting is in the carb? How is the distributor timing? What setting at idle?, and what is timing at full advance? Ju...

Re: Manx Mania feedback!!
Yes Anita does a fantastic job with putting together the Manx Mania. This issue with Tom Baker's buggies on the cover is one of the best I seen and read. Many, many pictures and good stories too. Anita is also always looking for people to submit stories and technical articles to put in the magazine.

Re: Manxter Side Curtains`
The ones on Bruce's yellow Manxter are black in color. I sure you could have them powered coated in any color you would want to do. The channel is larger then the rubber strips on side curtains and doors that fit into the channel. It leaves plenty of room for them to be coated.

Yes try adjusting the clutch free play first. Can you hear any sounds coming from the tunnel with engine off and stepping on the clutch pedal?

Re: Carburetion
Get a different distributor that has a vacuum advance along with mechanical advance like came with the carburetor on stock VWs.
Something like the one in the picture, this is a 034. Aircooled.net and other carry them.

Re: Shifter with trigger
Yes, if clutch is not adjusted properly it will cause a grind going into the lower gears. If free play feels fine when you adjust clutch cable, the clutch cable tube in the tunnel may be broken loose and moving. When tube moves it causes clutch not to release properly. Also check clutch pedal, they ...

Re: Carburetion
A PICT-3 would be the third variation of the 34 PICT carburetor. There was a PICT-4 that used a thermostatic controlled accelerator pump. The 34 PICT-3 does not work well with an 009 distributor or really any mechanical distributor that has to set the timing at idle at more than 5 degrees advance. I...
