Big Bear 2011
Ed, Thanks for posting those great pics. I was wanting to see how you guys repaired the separated ball joint. Looks like an excellent job (which is obviously was, since he made it back to camp). This is yet another example of why we need to add stops to the ball joint front end if it's taken off ...

Big Bear 2011
Great pics, Joseph. Glad to hear it was another successful run. I couldn't make it because the front end of my buggy was still way out of alignment and I'm also working through some ignition problems. Didn't want to break down halfway up the mountain! Maybe next time I'll have my act together and I ...

Spare tire mount.
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y62/Volksbuggen/Manx%20Tech/IMG_4927.jpg The piece of rubber under the wingnut keeps it from rattling and squeaking. The three nuts to the right of the spare tire mount go to the metal body support bracket that attaches to the upper shock mount. From the looks of ...

Tom,
I know exactly what you mean about the side pods interferring with the torsion caps. I always have to remove the side pods for this job, which adds a considerable amount of time to the process.

Need information on "Bullet"-type front turn signa
Yep, that looks like the type I have. I had to drill a hole in each fender for the wiring, as well as two smaller holes for the bolts that go into the fixtures. The screw you can see in the side of the bezel in the photo also goes into the fixture. There are two of those, and two that mount the asse...

'63 and earlier Ghia signals will fit. Mine are from the late fifties. '64 and later are too big. I don't know which T3 signals would fit. Early Ghia signals are hard to find, and are pricey when you find them. Best bet is Ebay or swap meets.

New PRP seats
I've looked on the website, and they show every spec excpet the distances between the mounting tabs. The reason I'm asking is I made my own seat mounts to put the Beard seats on the stock VW tracks, and I would like to use them for PRPs if I decide to go with them.

Do the PRP seats have the mounting tabs in exactly the same spots as the Beards? The ten year old Beard seats in my buggy need new upholstery, and I am considering replacing them with PRPs. Thanks!

"The only work you save with the above method us actually just undoing the one locknut and grub screw that enables you to pull the arm off." Technically, there are four locknuts and four grub screws if you are doing all four arms. The arms can be a pain to get out sometimes, especially i...

Fantastic shots! What beautiful country! I don't say this very often, but I wish I had been on that run!
