Re: Brake problem.

Yes rebleed system. also look for leaks, and be sure all line connections are tight. I suspect you have a loose connection that is allowing air into the system. look also at the brake switch sensors at the master cylinder. I found one on my buggy was leaving a small drip and causing the same conditi...

Early style shift rod coupler

I use an early style shift rod coupler that fits the rod and hokey stick poorly. it is slightly oversized in its diameter. so it has a little slop. has anyone used the urethane early type coupler, and does it fit better? I am looking for either stock or the urethane coupler with the correct diameter...

I saw no member number yet on your profile, you will need it to fully utilize this site. this site is less active than the facebook one, very less. but all the info is here to stay. you just have to read it. I assure you every question you want to ask and every question you don't know to ask has bee...

Re: Engine code prefixe "OH"

you can go back to the original type valve covers, but you don't need to. I mentioned the difference to you as a way of identification to your covers. in other words you have the look of high performance "race" valve covers, but have a stock engine. people paint race stripes on cars , but ...

Re: Engine code prefixe "OH"

good news. the engine # means its August 1967, which due to production standards it came in a 1968 beetle. 1967 and 1968 1500 cc motors can be slightly different due to the heads and intake. too technical to worry about or explain: both are great engines designed to be 12 volt. the axle boot keeps d...

Re: Weber IDF fitment on Signature Manx

I suggest getting the tape measure out and start configuring. I have a ss manx but it has a 3 inch bodylift, I can fit a stock beetle air filter with no clearance issue. with a stock carb the body ends in front of the carb. 4318 4320 4319 4317 . the stock oil bath is mesh removed; leaving the built ...

Re: Engine code prefixe "OH"

the muir book describes the pulley marks and how to find them. they are actually small v groves filed onto the pulley inside edge. a new degree pulley is not needed. read the timing section, and get it ready to set, by having the distributer rotor pointing at cylinder #1 firing order. then look at t...

Re: Engine code prefixe "OH"

a true 1968 motor is a 1500 cc single port motor. not 1600cc. in the john muir book you will find how to tune it up. setting your valves correctly is most important. setting static timing at 5 before top dead center always works. pull the spark plugs and replace with what was in it. your pics show t...

Re: Need To Find New Beach

yes 5150bossman, similar actions have been occurring at Racepoint. I did not mean to imply they were new. As a result of years of closures for vehicles and surf caster fishermen; the fish stock has thrived attracting seals; which attract sharks; which attack people. it has become a news item as auth...

Re: Need To Find New Beach

Sorry Bud, I don't see the similarities. from the edge of pavement to the waterline at Racepoint it is soft, requiring 8 psi or lower to traverse. I understand the "reasoning" behind the closures, which is why I'm looking for other beaches. I can and have visited Racepoint in September and...

Re: Need To Find New Beach

Mike the beach is open for the Piping Plover. a federal protected endangered bird species. it is a small size bird of the tern family. as nests are found the area is roped off and sign posted, to keep pets and people away. they feel the small bird will be run over. pets (dogs) could damage eggs and ...

Re: Need To Find New Beach

yes, but it is very soft and exhausting to walk in. for every 2 steps forward you advance 1. Every other beach on cape cod can be walked on. For the $150.00 permit fee you would want to drive further than you can walk. only 2 other beaches on cape cod allow driving, both have separate similar permit...
