Re: The El Tejon Manx

Scott, Did Doug non-op it in 84? Is the DMV going to let Marc use the original plates without any fuss? Marc said something about getting it rewired, does it have the VW harness? It looks like it has RGBs, does it? I don't think Marc would mind if the faded Bud-Man came un-stuck.

Re: The El Tejon Manx

The front bumper is the early Meyers Manx one. I'm pretty sure its tubular but only 3/4" dia. vs. the later 1".

Unauthorized Use of Old Red Image

I'm very disappointed to have heard from Winnie Meyers that Pixar and Mattel are using Old Red's image without their approval/authorization. I guess that's a Manx toy that won't be added to my collection.

Resorter

The Resorter ad in the Feb 69 DB&HVWs shows the Resorter without a badge. However, the article Bruce wrote in Vol 1, No.3&4 of Manx Mania about the Resorter said, "We stuck Meyers Manx badges on them and shared with Bill a 50-50% profit from the deal". I think the picture showed th...

FOUND: Monocoque No. ?

It has one of the single tube bumpers Meyers sold. They were 3/4" diameter.

FOUND: Monocoque No. ?

The DMV used to make you surrender your old plate when you got a replacement, so its unlikely they have the original, however just a snap shot could tell you what the number was and help tell you where yours fell in the build order.

FOUND: Monocoque No. ?

Scott, Maybe you've already done it but I suggest that you contact the Jensen family and see if there is any chance that they have any old pictures of your Manx in their family album. If they do, there's a good chance the original license plate is visible. BTW, this year California is going to repro...

Mystery of Monocoque PCS 076

Something else I just noticed, monocoque PCS 076 had two different types of skid plate. During the warm weather casual trip it had the multi-tube protection like Scott's Jensen Monocoque. On the cold weather record run it had a conventional steel skidplate and a single tube bumper. I think that indi...

FOUND: Monocoque No. ?

Chris, when you said, "The Geragos car and yours are "known" cars. The Geragos monocoque has all Porsche drivetrain and that car is remembered by Bruce. The other monocoques are kind of unknowns as to where they went to and who bought them".I wonder if Bruce might actually have k...

FOUND: Monocoque No. ?

Scott, You need to tell them its a collector vehicle and you are a collector. Here is the actual vehicle code and verbiage on the back fee exemption. Vehicle code 4604 certification = PNO (a) Except as otherwise provided in subdivision (d), prior to the expiration of the registration of a vehicle, i...

Mystery of Monocoque PCS 076

PCS 076 was a gold metalflake monocoque which made at least two trips down Baja. It was owned by Neal Allen and was one of the two chase vehicles that accompanied Old Red when it set the record in 1967. From a couple other pictures, it also appears to have been in a group of monocoques that ventured...
