Insurance for my buggy
Hello All, I just have a quick question for all of you, I am trying to get insurance for my buggy, but, what a hassle, most insurance companies want pictures and then they say it is high risk and want $800 Annually to insure a 5K buggy. What am I missing, my dirt bike is much cheaper than that??????...

Re: Carburetion
OK All, On to my next question. I am in the process of ordering a 30/31 Pict carb for my buggy and I was told by VW Paradise that it would never work correctly with a exhaust pre-heat tube, is this true? I do not have the pre-heat risers on my headers. I was also told that is more than likely the ca...

Re: Shifter with trigger
Thanks LastManx, You are correct, the clutch cable still has more adjustment left in it if I unbend the cable and shorten up the cable using those cheesy u-bolts you are referring to. I have already checked the valves using the John Muir manual, this is old hat to me as I have a 4 stroke dirt bike t...

Re: Shifter with trigger
Hello All, Just wanted to report my shift/transaxle no longer grinds going into gear and now I can find all gears easily. I first started off my project by checking clutch end play, it had half a pedal worth, so I got under the buggy and adjusted the wing nut until I had about half an inch free play...

Re: Shifter with trigger
I think it did grind with other shifter, but I am not sure if it was me or the shifter, it was such a very very short throw

Re: Carburetion
LastManx, Will the 30/31 pict work with my current intake maniford? Also, if I decide later to get a vacuum advance distributor, will the 30/31 pict carb support the vacuum needed? Do I tell my parts guy a want a 30 or 31 Pict, is there a 3 in it also like the 34Pict 3, what exactly am I looking for...

Re: Carburetion
LastManx,
So Am I hearing you say replace the carb with an older one? Which one do you recommend, and lastly, how about the distributor, keep it or change it out?

Re: Shifter with trigger
Hello Turtle,
It only grinds when stopped going into first or reverse, no other gears affected? Hope this helps, what do you recommend, clutch adjustment?
Thanks,
Rick

Re: Carburetion
Hello,
Mine is actually running a bit rich as I keep it at 7200 Feet above sea level, It does have a 009 distributor, not an actual 009, but an equivlant with mechanical advance. It does have a pretty big hesitation and the carb was just rebuilt
What is your recommendation?
Thanks in advance
Rick

Re: Shifter with trigger
Hello All,
I was just told by VW Paradise in San Marcos that if it grinds only in first and reverse, the clutch is simply misadjusted, could anyone verify this before I adjust it?
Thanks,
Rick

Re: Shifter with trigger
Hello Lastmanx, I do not try to put it into first until the buggy is stopped, however, even when stopped it grinds, which it not do with the short throw shift, so I do believe it is misadjusted, what way should I try to go with the new shifter?? I know I have room to move it forward and backwards, b...

Re: Shifter with trigger
Hello All, Well, I just got the buggy out of the shop and went to install my new EMPI stock shifter (Please recall I am removing my short throw trigger handle shifter) It went on very easily, but now it grinds going into first gear, it seems 2, 3 and 4th gear are easy to find, but the grinding to ge...
