Re: Manx vs. Manx II
A 1972 will have a ball joint front axle and a IRS (4 joint ) transaxle. The 1972 transaxle will have 2 cv boots per side with grease in them. if it has only 1 boot per side it is not a 1972. I mention this because the trans should not have a leak. The1 boot on earlier trans have oil in them that ca...

Wow, I can't believe it was not built yet!. Can't wait to see pictures. It shouldn't take years to build it. Its been 19 years already. Sorry to hear of your dads passing. Make him proud with a quality build.

Re: Manx vs. Manx II
I saw your photos. the certificate authenticates the buggy as a manx, it gives you a reassignment number and should be kept as proof of being a manx, don't loose it. the differences of manx II is the rear seat area you mentioned. the original id tag should have been on the finished surface: which is...

Re: Need To Find New Beach
Mike the thing being is; that it is called a Dune Buggy. I like to be able to say; Yes I do drive in the dunes when asked, otherwise I would own a strictly street manx. As you know from BAJA there is a difference.

Re: Need To Find New Beach
Mike the buggy season is not over just the hot summer season. I have a top and side curtains and use the buggy to the end of October. As luck would have it every time I go in September or October a hurricane arrives the same time, the top can handle the wind and rain, it has for 18 years, but my wif...

Re: SB-767 Carnegie SVR Off-highway vehicular recreation are
yes they are. my offroad beach access area has been 2 wheel drive banned since 2001. it has been temporarily closed to vehicles, pets, and people since june. it will open in the fall season when it is no longer a popular destination for vacationing as a family. but the sharks will still be present.

Re: Introduction and heat riser discussion
the gia elbow would be better,if its not running good. short aftermarket filters tend to run fuel rich, but the carb can be adjusted to compensate. understand vw intended their vehicles to be idiot proof and not messed with. dunebuggys are all custom; very much messed with since vw never made or app...

Re: Introduction and heat riser discussion
I run with no heat risers successfully for 30 years. the spacing above the carb refers to the air fuel fog standoff mixing inherent in the stock oilbath filter. see the Muir book article. think of a velocity stack. Heat risers allow you to operate in cold weather, that's it. My buggy cant operate in...

Re: 100 Signature Series Manx's
I did not know that. yes bruce was very fussy over quality. my #49 was supposed to be delivered in june 2000, but due to production problems did not arrive until October 2000. it was the first of only three blue bodies made in mexico. does your manx have the signature emblem on it? Also is it painte...
