C2C test run

Bob Are you running the mini mags up front? If so I'm wondering if the aggressive threads cause some of the shake on pavement. I'm thinking a set of 205/75r15 size street tire might work well. On the Tow'd I've got a set of of mini mags and it has a strange shake on pavement around 60. The other bug...

Big Bear 2013

Jay, I'm glad you made it home safe. I also want to thank Kevin for helping you out. I feel the same and am surprised no one stopped. On our trip down we stopped to try and help another buggy buddy on the side of the road. He lost the nut that holds the tow ball on to the hitch. Luckily he had pulle...

UPDATE: Black Manxter 5-Speed Conversion - Turnkey Manx

I agree w Joseph. I have actually stopped and strapped the roof down while towing because it was dancing around so much with the side winds in the desert. It's scary to see how much flex and movement occurs. All I could think of was the roof ripping off the mounts in the front. With Joseph's help, I...

Manxter Hardtop Latch

I like the idea also. The only thing I would mention is that on our manxter if an adult ( let's say 5'6" my height) sits in the rear seat their head/my head is right by the rear roll bar, possibly hitting the bracket. On a dual sport is should be fine. Joseph I still like the way yours/ours is ...

Event Discussion Thread -- 2013 Sea to Sea Safari (C2C)

Here's a link to the video about that trip http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=P-oTjcYlxYw Also these are the latches I used to hold the dash down to prevent rattles. I also used them on the engine cover to hold it in place. On the dash I placed one on both sides of the gauge pod http://www.westmarine.com/...

Lori Ann's Tow'd

Mike, Are you planning on running the stock Tow'd gas tank. The thing to check is the clearance between the tank and where the shift rod goes. On ours the shift rod runs under where the vin # is just like a stock bug to type 1 trans. There isn't much room to run the rod above it and have the rod fit...

Tow'd front torsion set up?

Mike, On our Tow'd I just have the stock front beam and torsion bars. It works well. I like the ride. I did remove the stock stop from the beam, but I wish I had not. When we took the Tow'd to pismo the long steering arm traveled up enough to hit the hood. If you look at the passenger side of the ho...

Transmission

Did the trams work before? We're there any shifting issues? If it worked fine and stopped shifting, I would also check the shift coupler between the trans and the end of the shift rod. The retainer bolts might have come loose or I have even had the square housing on the late model shift connecter (i...

UPDATE - New front and rear seats are installed.

Scott, I like the new seats, but here is my 2 cents. What I have learned is it doesnt matter what I think looks and feel right, if your passanger (in my case Jen) doesnt like the seats, I get to hear how uncomfortable she finds my suspension seats. Good luck Great looking Manxter by the way Doran

I also like the turn signals mounted in the lower position. The other issue I ran into with the mounting the lights on top of the fenders is that the electrical connection hangs below the fender and gets broken as the tire hits bumps.
