I take forever and a day (see Loretta's current update) to do anything, and took a full day to get just the zerk fittings into the new beam d...

Jeffery and I then took off that day for a short little test drive, a celebratory frosty beverage, and to take some photos! These are some of my favorites thus far, and one of them can be seen 2016 Manx Club Calendar (September). http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv17/abgiles_1/Loretta/IMG_20150914...

Re: First Build thread of 2015 and of the new Forum - Lorett

After several months of dragging my feel along, it was time to re-install her powerplant. I had a motor that Wesley Allen took apart, cleaned up and inspected, and had put back together. I ordered a rebuilt 34 pict 3 from Tim at Volksbitz, and Jeffery Holt and I fitted it all up, and got it installe...

Then came the time for fun. Wiring... While I was a Nuclear Electrician's Mate for 23 years in the Navy, and know what I feel is more than your average guy about wiring, and had done numerous modifications and repairs to VW wiring and other vehicles, I had never fully wired any car, let alone a fibe...

Re: First Build thread of 2015 and of the new Forum - Lorett

Shortly after getting her home, I started on a few things, but wanted to take her to a local show before removing the windshield and hood to get down to business. I kept the motor in and installed the axles and stuff to make her look like she ran, and towed her to SEVWA's Darlington Showdown. She wo...

Re: First Build thread of 2015 and of the new Forum - Lorett

I had a great view on the way to Carlisle, but for some reason, the buggy in front of me seemed to constantly want to turn left. We met up with Steve Flowers about halfway there, and had a caravan as we traveled. Also, I kept getting pelted with sunflower seed shells. http://i665.photobucket.com/alb...

Here she is, ready to show off! http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv17/abgiles_1/Loretta/20150515_000050_zpsxzwuflqx.jpg Lastly, tow lights were hooked up, tape was used to keep the slack from rubbing on the body, and we could get some rest. http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv17/abgiles_1/Loretta...

Re: First Build thread of 2015 and of the new Forum - Lorett

We arrived at Joe's place shortly after 2 in the afternoon, and worked until nearly 2 in the morning, only stopping for a nice dinner with the group and Joe's and David's wives, and to head over to David's for a short bit to look at his Moss Green Manx II that he was working on. Quite a build there!...

Re: First Build thread of 2015 and of the new Forum - Lorett

We arrived in WV in the early afternoon, and from the previously posted video, my amazement was more than I can write about. The weather was perfect for the metalflake, and I was so anxious I forgot to put the truck in park before I started to get out. Luckily, Chris stopped me before I actually got...

Re: First Build thread of 2015 and of the new Forum - Lorett

I started writing what I had done once I got home, but realized that I left out an amazing part, and what I feel is significant. The trip up to pick up Loretta was scheduled for the Carlisle Show weekend, and Chris Lewis rode shotgun. I left Columbia, SC with the X-Body buggy (part of the deal for t...
