My buggy came with the bullet style mirrors mounted on the fenders. As stated previously, you can`t see anything out of them...but they look cool.

I believe Sudebaker sold the Avanti name several years ago. I remember seeing the Avanti`s for sale at a Cadilac dealer, back in the mid 80`s. They still resembled the `63`s. Not sure who produces them...GM maybe ?

Does anybody know if this Bruce`s party will be held rain or shine? I`m planning on driving in from Tucson, but the forcast for Escondido is calling for rain. I would hate to drive 500 miles for a rained out event.

The "Red Line" tires were used on late 60`s muscle cars. These are mostly for the purist restorer who absolutly wants everything correct. They`re probably only available in bias ply.

My dad had always wanted to build a Manx with my brother and I, but unfortunately, he died suddenly when I was a teen (back in the 70`s), and never realized his dream. I became involved in muscle cars, and blew tons of money building fast street cars. Then real life set in, the local economy went so...

There are 3 bolts that hold on the backing plate. The wheel cylinders have 4 small bolts. Most of the link pins I`ve seen have either 2 bolts for early, or 1 bolt for later on the wheel cylinders.

Brake Parts

I just found out, that the link pin beam I have is older than I thought. The wheel cylinders have 4 mounting bolts. I`ve been told those are pre 1953, and unavailable. Does anybody know if the backing plates for a newer link pin beam will fit on this antique?

Thank you Jerry, I hated the thought of buying the new tank, and having the filler tube relocated, only to have problems.

Fuel Tank Clearance

I`m going to buy a new VW fuel tank, but first I want to be sure the clearance is adequate. There is about 3 inches from the bottom of the tank, to the tie rod, with my old tank on my clone. I`m not sure how much is needed. How much room is there on a Manx ? For the record, I have a Safari body.

If the fan shroud clearance is an issue, you can always build a type 3 with the fan mounted on the rear.

I don`t think anybody is challenging that black looks great on a buggy, they`re just pointing out that black shows any flaws and dirt more. Here was another good looking black buggy. Image
