FOUND: Monocoque No. ?

Hi Scott. Thanks for posting these shots. Fantastic. The angle iron that the front of the board mounts to is supposed to be there. That angle iron part actually bolts to the backside of the main front suspension mounting holes. The steel plate appears more to be aluminum plate. I am suspecting that ...

FOUND: Monocoque No. ?

Re the black buckets, mine were painted blue like the body and I kept it that way. I had an additional set of diets which I painted and kept the original blue ones which were on the car. I think that they look better the color of the car personally although the black really gives it a utilitarian lo...

FOUND: Monocoque No. ?

Re the bumper, it has the brackets of the single tube front bumper but the width for the monocoque is much wider. I have one of the single tube bumpers and checked to see if I could get it to work on #7 but it will not. The brackets on the other hand will work. I will post a picture later showing th...

FOUND: Monocoque No. ?

All,  Sorry to put this in this monocoque  thread.  How come the images that Nelson and others post are bigger than the actual available screen size on here? I see these awesome images but have to slide the bar back and forth to see the entire image. Is there something I can do to increase the viewi...

FOUND: Monocoque No. ?

Scott, Actually the first 5 are known exactly. The first four had different license plate areas so that is another way to tell the first cars. Additionally, Quattro had the rear VW torsion assembly in it but no torsion bars. The air lift bags supplied all of the suspension support in the back. And o...

FOUND: Monocoque No. ?

Scott, Looking at the image I found on facebook, it does appear to have been repainted at least on the interior. The screws which hold the cowl in place have been painted. They would have been silver.

COOL.

Scott, I am glad that you were able to get it. you have to bring it to Big Bear as Tom posted. We need to get as many monocoques together as possible. Sadly, I cannot see the images in either Chrome or internet explorer.  http://manxclub.yuku.com/domain/bypass/images/bored.gif That is killing me.

Towd on the Samba but with HIGH production number

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1389047 The owner states TF887H0 That is 200 over what is broadly considered the production number for Towds.  I emailed the seller to verify the number (and to also let Winnie register the car). Anyone interested in it?  I am about 3 hours from ...

Hi guys, I have a question for you regarding my "new" manx. I have the engine out and sighting the rear end against the transmission, the centerline of the license light and aircleaner cut out is shifted over about 1 inch over to the drivers side of the body. Additionally, the left side of...

really, it does not ultimately matter but it is pretty interesting. I liken it to digging up ancient ruins or trying to determine what caused a B-17 to go down in a swamp. History is cool.

I have heard as well that there were a lot of "black market manxes" laid up on weekends and evenings. How many of those were built.

Old Manx...I was under the wrong impression then...That is great news...We are nearing a number of strap frames early manxes close to Bruces recollection of production.
