Re: Shock survey!!!

I run 12 PSI front and back all the time; on dirt roads the GR2's would not soak up the the little sharp edge bumps and was just too harsh. The switch to oil up front made for 100% improvement in ride quality. Our buggy has been driven by many other club members and I always hear how well it rides a...

Re: Shock survey!!!

2 years later ----- I still run the KYB Gas-a-Just in the rear and they are perfect for our buggy. As for the front KYB GR2's, I gave them away and run cheap oil shocks. couldn't be more happy with the ride in ALL conditions on and off road.

Cheers,

Re: Engine tins

Also, I see two fuel filters. For safety, I would remove the fuel filter inline feeding the carb.

Re: Save the Manxclub

John & Sonia, I have never attended a Manx club event. The closest to me would be the Manx at the glen, but the host motel bans dogs, and Sally the dune buggy dog III would be pissed if we left her home. Other hotels in that area allow pets: but it seems all the action is at the main host motel...

Re: Save the Manxclub

Back on topic; lastmanx - I'm member 4880 and my wife and I have been around just over 2 years. We purchased a complete buggy in Riverside that turned out to be a real "pre-tag" Manx. I didn't build the buggy but in the last 2 years have turned it into a comfortable and reliable buggy that...

Re: Newbie Buggy shopping

Well, kind of funny looking back at my first post; a lot has changed in 2 years. 1) This red buggy was authenticated as an early pre-tag Manx and now goes by the name of 'Lil Blue' Since acquiring Lil Blue, it has been to Pismo, Glamis, Lake Tahoe, Topaz, Laughlin, Borrego, Big Bear, Baja, Glen Hele...

Re: It's not you it's me

I will offer up some feedback from a newbie perspective. I was a lurker for a few years then started buggy shopping 2 years ago and used this forum for reference. I found out real quick that the classifieds on here were old and slow with activity. So, thanks to a local Craigslist ad I found a FG bug...

Re: Our Manx (non-restoration) budget build thread

Time to put matching rims on the buggy; I have acquired a full set of VW smoothies 15x5 and 15x10. Time to clean them up, paint them to match rear bumper and roll bar, and get some appropriate tires. Then of course finish off the look with chrome dome VW hubcaps. http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/u...

Re: Our Manx (non-restoration) budget build thread

I, like so many others found the Manx Facebook and rarely come to this site. So here are a few updates;
Found a used but good condition Skat shifter for $30. What a difference and money well spent

Re: Shock survey!!!

Thanks for all the input. In an effort to be conservative on price, I went with the KYB GR2 up front and the KYB Gas adjust on the rear. Only tested on the street so far but the ride is not as harsh as expected. So far so good.

Re: Southern California meet and greet?

Well, the weather man says rain for the weekend and I'm not interested in playing in the rain/ mud. If anyone is interested the date has been changed to February 10 and 11.

Re: Southern California meet and greet?

Refreshing the topic; to far for an accurate weather forecast but looks like it should be mild and dry.
I'm no meteorologist, but have a good chance of matching their accuracy :)
