With lots of release agent in the battery well I layed-up a double layer of 3/4 oz mat, with an additional layer over the top edge on to the rear deck to aid in mold removal: http://www.manxclub.com/gallery/data/581/medium/Ready4Removal.jpg After a 24 hour 'green cure', I removed the mold by easing ...

Ron and I did close the electronic divide. Here is what we came up with, and the story of making a mold to replace a missing Manx battery box so far. Maybe others can use some of these techniques on their projects, can learn from my misteps, and/or offer easier better ways. First off, Ron's buggy is...

Hi Ron I've sent you several PM's in the last week, maybe my send is not functioning correctly? Anyway since I get your messages, send me another PM with your contact information (email and/or phone #). Let's get your batery well fixed! Rob

Ron I have a bare manx body with the battery box intact that I can make an inside splash mould for you. I'm thinking you would need to turn the body upside-down to make the final fiberglass repair. Send me a PM if interested.

After getting price quotes on a custom softop with curtains (too $$$ for me) , and then an aborted attempt at making my own fiberglass top from scratch, I purchased a used Meyers hardtop today: http://www.manxclub.com/gallery/data/500/medium/Hardtop_FR.jpg Here it is just sitting on the buggy. The '...

Thanks for making the collection of Thomas Crown buggy pictures available. I like this shot of the air-flow around the Manx: http://www.manxgallery.org/gallery/album108/cap007

Thanks for the compliment Nelson. The idea of lowering a VW bug via raising the transmission is one of those tricks used for years by racers and ?low-rider? folks. It is made possible by the simple design and parts interchangeability of VW parts, (like the bus nose/shifter cone). The Thomas Crown b...

Where did my Gallery photos go?

When I uploaded a new photo to the Gallery, all my old folders and pictures disappeared! Did I do something I shouldn't have? Thanks

Nelson, What a great shot of the Thomas Crown buggy! I had not seen that photo before. I Like the rear seat bench cover, those great looking muffler/megaphones, and the clean look of the modified stock Manx rear bumper! There is an old Crown add showing the rear end of a 140 Manx with the duel snor...

I finished this summer?s project. Well almost.

I really tried to get this done before our 3 weeks of Seattle summer. There might be a few good driving days left. I added some ?Behives? (British Lucas turn signals) to the front: http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll300/manxrob/Meyers%20Manx/FrontBehive.jpg And some old-school chrome VW lights to...

I have one buried in the garage.... I took it off a parts buggy. The original installation required cutting off the VW pan frame horns. It might be quite a bit of work to return such a pan to VW transmission. The Hadley conversion seems like a nice period piece. Why not keep it? Maybe convert it to...

Thanks Mel, both for the warning about the importance of getting a positive lock on the windshield/top junction, and the bonded fastener idea to eliminate the need to drill through the top! I will try using bonded fasteners and post pictures of what I come up with. On a related subject: It seems to...

I am currently working on my hardtop. I am planning to use a variation of the front clamps Mel described.. The full width front lip of my fiberglass top has 5/8 in of lip where it wraps the windshield, it just needs a positive stop/retainer to keep it engaged. I think a couple of small blocks of Te...
