Where are all the Manxters ??

Here is Manxter #007 (Ocean Spray) arriving home Dec 2006.   Unfortunately, as Jon mentioned, it's in storage until other projects are finished. Hope to have it on the road in 2012. http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/3341684fa4da8af256e9f5bd3fdc0e77a76796a6.jpg http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/ce226...

Sunday drive in the Sierra's

Thanks for the info.
You might need to invest in chains if you keep driving in that white stuff!

Your car looks great with the BRM's.

Bus Transmissions

3 rib are generally lower R/P ratio.  Some early ones are 5.38/1.  Some say they are lighter weight than the 6 rib. 6 rib (091) were from 76-79 and most were 4.57/1 R/P. General consensus is they are stronger than the 3 rib. 1st-3rd gear ratios are the same. 4th varies depending on the year. Check t...

Tearing Down and Building Up the Turista...

Sounds like a fun build.

If you're planning on 225 HP side stepping you may want to consider a built 091 Bus trans and 930 cv's.  Will cost a few pennies but not as much as a Mendeola.

Congrats on your build.

I had this problem a few years ago. New ball joints, tie rod ends and correct toe-in helped. You may want to add some caster shims on the beam.

Also check how your tow bar mounts. If it's too loose it can get the shakes.

I think it depends on what you want to do. Street only, on/off road, hard core off road, etc. I do a little street and a lot of off road. I would choose an air cooled VW built with quality parts. Simple, easy to maintain and reliable. We do a fair amount of traveling in Baja and it's easy to find re...

CRC makes an aerosol called Dry Moly Lube that goes on wet and drys leaving a film of lubricant that won't attract dirt, sand, etc. It works great on linkages and cables. Seems to keep the dirt and mud from sticking. Joe
