Re: Getting in and out of Buggy easily
Well... do like I'm going to do to our original authenticated Meyers Manx... "I'm going to cut down the sides"!!! I've got it all figured out & will hopefully start on it soon!!! I have fibromyalgia (pain everywhere all of the time)... neuropathy, no feeling in my legs & feet, nor...

Re: need BENCO RACING input
There are quite a few excellent transaxle repair & builders in SoCal!!! I've bought many Beetle IRS & swing transaxles, 002 (3 rib) & 091 (6 rib) transaxles for customers from RANCHO over the last 20 years or so & never had any problems/returns!!! I do know of a few that had some fa...

Hey lastmanx... I fully understand what you are saying!!! I've never had the pleasure & honor of meeting you in person, but I feel like I've known you for a very long time!!! I've been involved with car clubs, Jeep clubs, hotrod clubs & all sorts of clubs in the last 50+ years & they al...

Re: VHF Radios
Everyone should study & take the 2 meter ham test & then purchase a hand-held 2 meter radio!!! Much better range & easier to contact someone in case of an emergency!!! It would be good to carry in your car/pu or motorcycle too!!! Do a search on 2 meter ham radios, a ton of info out ther...

The offset washers are available, check with a major wheel distributor to find out who to order them from!!! I too like the one piece wheels... much stronger!!! Older original Crager S/S wheels in the sizes you might want are out there, but expect to pay a premium price for them!!! Cragers are cool...

Re: WTB Manx Valve Covers
Lots of folks tend to go into a bidding frenzy when it comes to original Meyers Manx items!!! As the old saying goes... "Any item, is only worth what someone is willing to pay, at any given moment!!!" People go nuts about stuff!!! LOL Maybe the Club members & other folks that want the...

Mr. Bill... over the years I've only had a few speedometers rebuilt & a couple gauge clusters!!! I used "Fleet Speedometer Service" & "United Speedometer"!!! I'm not sure either one is still in business!!! I've heard of several places that specialize in VW speedos & ...

The odds are... it'll go for way more than it's worth!!! That's good for the owner & Barrett-Jackson, but not so good for the buyer!!! It does say "NO RESERVE" so it'll probably start fairly high!!! Remember... just because it may shine like a jewel, doesn't mean it is one!!!

WOW... looking good!!! The gelcoat may not be perfect, but it looks great!!! Your hard work has really paid off!!! We bought our original Meyers Manx in Dec. 98 & I completely rebuilt her & it only took 21 months!!! LOL !!! Her name is Xena!!! LOL Since then, we've driven her a little over ...

IMO... those 4600 Bilsteins are a better choice than the KYB Gas-A-Just. I've used many different KYBs in the past on a variety of vehicles & some Bilsteins too & the Bilsteins always seemed to help provide a little better & smoother ride!!!

Very good answer OldManx!!! On our buggy Xena, I went a little different direction with the front & rear shocks & they have worked real well for 16+ years & 87,000 miles!!! The King & Linkpin frontend on Xena was "modified" by her original builder back in 1968!!! They &quo...

Re: WHEN AND HOW DID YOU GET INTO DUNE BUGGYS ?
What some awesome & very interesting stories. I wanted a Meyers Manx or any f/g buggy from day one of the first articles that came out in the various magazines. Early on, there was a metalflake blue Meyers Manx & a metalflake green clone in the small town I grew up in. I was mainly interest...

Re: Transaxle Popping Out of Gear
Gary, do you know if there is a "seal" where the shift shaft goes thru the nosecone??? I've seen many without one & deep water crossings, dust & sand manage to get inside of the nosecone & cause problems!!! However, it's probably time for a rebuild anyway!!!
