I made my ?rack? out of some red oak and bolted it to the hard top. Added a set of rack pads and tie it all down with a pair of d-ringed board tie-downs. I?m getting back into surfing after 25 years, so the long board works for me. The board is a RS 9'-6", perfect for an old guy like me, easy t...

Jerry, I?ve seen the roof mounted both ways. The instructions from Bruce say it should fit into the groove. My hardtop fit in the groove on my Siggy manx windshield OK. I had to sand a bit in a couple areas where the glass varied in thickness. Good Luck,

The straps wrap around the rack and over the board and have a D-ring setup. They draw up real tight and don?t come loose. Dave

Long board on a short buggy

Hi everybody, I remember a while back there was a thread about mounting a surfboard on a Manx. I just finished this rack over the weekend. Since it?s hot and rains daily here in Florida, I decided to make a rack that works with the hard top. I made them out of Oak and bolted them to the hard top. I ...

My Siggy Manx also sits lower in the back. It is on a Berrien frame. Like Lee?s my license plate would hit the alternator pulley if left un-tweaked. I have a piece of stainless steel behind the license plate like the original Manx?s had and had to cut a lot away to clear the alternator.

I read last year that the NASCAR guys gave Toyota a Ford and a Chevy engine to ?study? to develop thier pushrod engine. They are running it now in the truck series. NASCAR is giving Toyota a ?bye? on the production rule. Sounds to me like the France family has both GM and Toyota in their pockets.

I?m with Jerry on this subject. I gave up on NASCAR when they made all the cars the same and slowed them down with restrictor plates. When I was a kid I really got into it. That was when the winged Dodges/Plymouths and Torino Talladegas were running. A friend invited me to the Pepsi 400 (formerly th...

At one time (pre fatherhood) I had a 71 Chevelle SS. It had a 454 LS-6 that I built up, Turbo 400 with a shift kit and a 3.73 12-bolt posi. It would turn low 12?s on street tires through the mufflers. I used to drive it to the Street Machine Nationals in downstate Illinois from outside of Chicago. F...

Thanks guys, I think my Buggy is going to get a swelled head(s). Here?s a shot with the new hardtop. The other shot is my car along with Don?s at Bug Jam this year. I wish they would park all the buggies together. Take it easy, Dave
