I see the same questions posted here and on the DSB forum. The more information the better, but sooner or later you will have to get your hands dirty.

I am a "non Manx owner" and have come to the conclusion that this site will likely implode into a small group of people that talk about Volvo master cylinder resevoirs, etc and things that do not really apply to my application. But it used to be fun to read and interact with all kinds of p...

Newest item is a grit notcher with quick change head. I used to notch tubes with a plasma and grinding stone. This way is way faster and makes a much better fit up and weld joint. I have always wished for a Bridgeport and a nice lathe. A large rotary type phase converter is nice to have around as we...

Nothing beats common sense when you are lost. A while back a family from the Bay Area drove up a closed logging road in southern Oregon because the on board navigator picked the shortest route. That did not end well. Are you able to check the grid coordinants with another GPS unit? If you give a res...

I agree with Lee. Stock good quality clutches seem to come apart less frequently too. Less expensive to upgrade than a transaxle if you end up with a slipage issue. In my glass buggy I tried a full disc (non puck) solid ( no springs) with a stock plate that I am pretty happy with. I forget the brand...

If you tig weld them you might have better luck with a stainless fill rod. Forged steel and HRS want to get porosity with mild steel fill rod. I use 308 alloy SS rod on steel all the time.

The cheapest way to get the best transmission ( in my opinion ) is to buy a bus and remove the transaxle. If you are lucky or do the research you can get the 488 gears. I think 1979 is the last year of the 5 rib 091 trans. Stay away from the newer side shift unless you know somone at Nasa that can m...

Sounds like a pressure plate failure or a throwout bearing came undone. Look for good quality replacement parts, I have had good luck with Borg Warner and KEP parts. Don't forget the input shaft (pilot) bearing when you are in there..

There are a lot of good books about fiberglass out there. Lots of different resin and cloth combos. Even epoxy resin and synthetic glass if the smelly itchy thing is a problem.

I have seen people use fox shocks with no torsions or coil over springs (front only) relying on nytrogen pressure for spring with good results. Down side is they will overheat quicker without a spring and the dampning is not so good with frothy oil. And they are not a cheap date even without coilove...

I would probably vote more often if the entry photos were posted side by side. Instead you have to open 5 different windows. It is easier than it used to be to find the vote page.
