Check in: Check in begins on Thursday, July 10. The Manx Club will be in the 2nd floor conference room. Follow the signs. We will also have check-in on Friday. This is where you will receive your information package, pre-ordered t-shirts, dinner tickets and goody bags. You can also sign up for an off road group, show and shine or the Inaugural Big Bear Buggy Rally.
Parking: The front parking lot of Northwood’s will be blocked off for the Manx Club buggy parking and show and shine. Please park your personal vehicles behind the resort.
We will have overflow/ trailer parking located on Brownie Lane. Follow Big Bear Blvd east to Wren Drive and turn right. Turn left on Browning Lane. This is an unsecured lot so secure your property. Manx Club and Snow Summit will not be responsible for any loss or damage. There is no overnight camping in this lot.
Lodging: Northwood’s is sold out. Sorry. The Robinhood Resort , which is nearby, will give Manx Club members a 15% discount on their rooms on a 2 or 3 night stay only. A single night stay would be 10%. Their rooms vary in price so call them at 909-866-4643 and mention Manx Dune buggy Club for the discount. Online reservations will not be able to access the discounts.
Everybody has different lodging needs so I can only recommend that you can look on line at WWW.BigBear.Com and find what you need.
T shirts: The club has our shirts printed 1week before the event. On your registration form, there is a part for you to order your shirts. If you decide not to order shirts, I cannot guarantee that I will have any leftover in case you change your mind. If you would like a special shirt printed, it has to be 100% cotton, no seams in the print area and the color should not clash with the artwork. You need to mail it to me before the deadline. The cost is the same-$15. The youth or child shirts may be printed differently due to the size of the artwork and the shirt. There will be no refunds on shirts that don’t fit.
Saturday morning parade: We have a parade scheduled to start at 9am from the Northwood’s parking lot around Big Bear Lake thru the town and back to the parking lot. We are still waiting on final approval from the local authorities. We will let you know at the event.
Show and Shine: Saturday, 10am-2pm- We will be having an open to the public “Show and Shine” in the parking lot Saturday for 10am to 2pm. Northwood’s will have an outside grill available to purchase lunch. You are encouraged to enter the show and shine and vote for your favorite buggies. Each type of buggy will have their own class. There will be signs to direct you where to park your buggy. I would highly recommend you bring folding chairs and sunscreen. Judging will begin at 11am. Winners will be announced Sunday morning. After you are done voting turn your ballots in and explore downtown Big Bear. I hear there will be a Chili cook-off on the city park right around the corner.
Saturday Night Dinner: We will be having a dinner in the Northwood’s banquet room Saturday night. It is a buffet style dinner. There is a place on your registration form to purchase dinner tickets. This will be the only opportunity to buy dinner tickets. They will not be sold at the door. I have to call in a head count 2 weeks before the dinner.
You do not have to attend the dinner to attend the celebration party afterwards. We will clear the dinner tables and open the doors to the club at 8pm for the 50th anniversary celebration.
50th Anniversary Celebration: Starts at 8pm in the Northwood’s banquet room. We will be having some really cool presentations and some words from Bruce and Winnie. After that, there will be a DJ to play music until 1130pm and 2 cash bars. Let’s have some fun.
Off Roads Groups: We will be having groups go out Friday and Saturday. You will need to sign up Thursday for the groups you will want to ride with on Friday and Saturday. I have 2 days of off roads groups for a couple of reasons.
- Members who can’t get to the event until Friday can go trail riding Saturday.
- Members who don’t want to participate in the “show and shine” can go trail riding.
There will be no Sunday morning trail run.
There will be a mandatory drivers meeting Friday morning and Saturday morning in the back parking lot of Northwood’s. Have your buggies ready (gas tanks full) and your lunches packed.
Inaugural Big Bear Buggy Rally: Friday10am- This will be a new addition to Big Bear Bash. Designed for the street buggies but anybody can participate! Form or join teams of 3 buggies during check in. Friday morning teams will gather in the parking lot for their packages and instructions. The object is to drive around the Big Bear area and find the answers to questions about Big Bear. The top three team with the most correct answers will win a cash prize. This is not a timed event or race. Take your time and enjoy Big Bear. The winners will be announced Sunday morning during the awards ceremony.
Kickout Raffle: Draw of the winning ticket for the Kick-Out-S.S. on Sunday morning.
